“See you, Father Romwell!”

9 February – Domalandan, Lingayen, Pangasinan. "See you, Father Romwell," were the last words of Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas during his homily at the funeral Mass of Fr. Romwel Fabregas, who was the Parish Priest of St. Rose of Lima in Domalandan. Fr. Romwel was a young priest in his early 40′s at the peak of his pastoral ministry. He was known for his athletic skills and intellectual talents. He was well known for his distinct laugh and big appetite. But all these were gathered under a bright perspective during the homily of Father Soc.

The mass was attended by three bishops and more than 50 priests and religious, students from catholic schools that Fr. Romwel used to direct, teachers, seminarians, and people from other parishes. Although Fr. Romwel was from Calasiao, Pangasinan, the wake was held in the Parish of Domalandan. Father Soc told the bereaved family that Fr. Romwel was already given to the Church by the family, so he belonged to the Church since he was ordained.

After the mass, a short viewing was held at the Calasiao church. Fr. Romwel’s body was interred at the Chapel of the Resurrection, where priests of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan are buried. It is located at the back of the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish church.
