Re: PANANABANGAN MONTH
My dear people of God:
Following our archdiocesan tradition of celebrating November each year as the month for the ICTHUS Pastoral Fund Appeal, it is my pleasure to issue this reminder to the Catholic faithful, religious men and women and brother priests about this important pastoral observance in the Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan. In order to set the Icthus Pastoral Fund in the mainstream of our ecclesial life, I have decided to declare the same month as PANANABANGAN MONTH.
The theme for the very first Pananabangan Month will be "PASIMBALO tan PINANABANG ed BILAY tan GETMA na SIMBAAN". We hope this month will also help us to prepare for the Synod of Lingayen Dagupan due to be convoked in September 2017.
Please expect Pananabangan homilies for the all the Sundays of November to be disseminated to the parishes by the second week of October. The Credo of Stewardship must be prayed after the Post Communion Prayer in all Masses for the whole month of November. A common Prayers for the Faithful focusing on Pananabangan will likewise be available.
There will be the traditional Icthus Pastoral Fund Appeal envelopes to be distributed to the parishes, pastoral stations and schools as well as the second collection at all Sunday Masses in November. The collections must be remitted to the Chancery by the first week of December. The Icthus Fund will be used for the various archdiocesan and vicarial programs for evangelization, human development and charity.
There will be a General Assembly of all parish Pananabangan Core Teams on November 6, Sunday at the Lay Formation Center from 8:30m to 5:00pm. The morning will be a spiritual recollection while the afternoon will be set aside for some pastoral concerns related to Pananabangan.
I propose that the parishes also hold parish level a Pananabangan fest preferably on November 13 in order to inform everybody living the spirituality of stewardship of the status of the campaign in our parish communities. A simple potluck meal may be organized to celebrate Pananabangan.
We have made heroic steps pursuing the spirituality of Pananabangan. Some dioceses in the Philippines and the United States have taken note of our progress and have been looking at us with admiration and inspiration.
Let us celebrate our Pananabangan pilgrimage.
