Feast of the Holy Innocents
RE: Blessing of Poor Clare Monastery of Saint James the Apostle
My dear brother priests and religious sisters:
I am pleased and honored to invite you to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and blessing of the Poor Clare Monastery of Saint James the Apostle in Barangay Nancapian, Malasiqui, Pangasinan on January 21, 2012, Saturday, at ten o’clock in the morning.
This is the first and only contemplative monastery of nuns in the Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan. When I was appointed to the Archbishopric of Lingayen Dagupan in 2009, one of the very first concerns I attended to was to insure that a community of contemplative nuns be present in our midst to pray for the sanctification of priests and to offer their hidden sacrifices to sustain our mission in the world. The monastery in the archdiocese is the powerhouse of our active ministry.
The blessing of the monastery will be the only opportunity for you to see the interior of the monastery which our Catholic faithful in Pangasinan so kindly helped to build. After the blessing, the monastery will be closed perpetually and the life of sacrifice of the nuns will hence begin inside the cloister. It would really mean so much for me if you can join us in this historic Church event in the archdiocese at the dawn of our jubilee year.
Thank you even now. Oremus pro invicem.
